PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc, 9 in x 5 in 3S XSC, 2 ea/Case, SPR 021098A?

The Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc is a high-quality abrasive product designed for cleaning and polishing marine surfaces such as fiberglass or gelcoat.

  2. What makes the Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc special compared to other cleaning products on the market?

Unlike other similar products, our marine cleaning disc is made of durable materials that are ideal for use on large surface areas. It removes stubborn dirt and stains more effectively than other non-abrasive alternatives.

  3. How do I use this product effectively and safely?

To get the most out of your Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc, attach it securely to your power tool following manufacturer guidelines. Use moderate pressure when applying it to surfaces and maintain constant speed throughout all stages of your project while keeping an even angle.

  4. Is this product reusable or disposable after usage?

While you can reuse our cleaning discs several times depending on how dirty they become during use if there's too much damage done by debris then we recommend getting rid of them promptly since they won't function correctly afterwards.

  5. Do you have any recommendations for maintenance tips when using this product?

After each use wash off dirt with soap warm water before storing away; if air-dried successfully store it in a cool dry place where kids pets cannot reach.

Keep Propellers Clean

The Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc is a nonwoven disc that removes marine growth, tubeworms, barnacles, calcium, and basal plate build-up from ship propellers. It offers a fast and clean method to replace costly, strong chemicals and time-consuming scraping by hand. Propellers are an integral part of boating operations, and keeping them clean is important for optimal boat performance. Propellers contribute to both acceleration and fuel efficiency. When weighted down by growth and debris, they cannot run as smoothly and require more fuel to sustain the same speed. Cleaning propellers helps reduce overall friction and resistance, so they can move more smoothly through the water.

Strong and Responsive

The Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc is engineered by combining silicon carbide mineral and nonwoven nylon fibers with resin. The mineral is extra coarse (XCS), meaning it cuts especially sharp compared to finer grades. This mineral is tough enough to remove the growth that resides on propellers. Still, the nonwoven nylon fibers are responsive enough to not gouge the propeller or severely alter its geometry and remove the underlying gelcoat. The disc is available in two densities, so operators can choose the right density for their propeller.

Hook and Loop Attachment

The disc has a Hook and Loop attachment for easy changeout of discs. It speeds the process by eliminating the need to work with fickle attachment systems. The hook-and-loop backing is designed to be used with hook-and-loop holder pads (sold separately). The hook-and-loop attachment acts like a cushion, providing some extra shock-absorption and buoyancy. When run under normal use, the likelihood of gouging or denting the workpiece is reduced.

The Many Benefits of Open Web Abrasives

Nonwoven technology makes Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity.

Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
