PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA used for?

The 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA is an abrasive disc designed for intermediate finishing and sanding applications in both woodworking and automotive industries.

  2. How does it compare with other similar products in the market?

Our product features uniform abrasive particles that enable consistent finishes on workpieces with minimal issues compared to other conventional abrasives.

  3. What sizes are available, and how many discs come per package?

This particular product comes sized at 6 inches x NH (no-hole), while each case has a total of one hundred items! Inner packaging holds twenty-five discs.

  4. Is it easy to install or use this Hookit type disc?

Yes, very much so. With its innovative attachment system known as "Hookit," users can quickly attach our film discs to their hook-and-loop backup pads using firm pressure.

  5. ; When do I know if it's time to change my sanding disc?

; A good rule of thumb would be when you notice a degraded quality finish due to wear or damage caused by excessive heat build-up during use. Just regularly inspect your sanding tool frequently during work sessions.

Fine Sanding and Finish of Painted surfaces

3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA abrasives are available in three grades -- A3, A5, and A7. These abrasives are color coded to reduce the risk of error when there are multiple grades in a sequence. Each disc is designed for quick access and attachment to orbital or random orbital sanders. This disc is the clear coat spot repair disc that is used by automotive manufacturers worldwide.

Designed to Repair Automotive Finishes

The abrasive material used in 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA is silicon carbide mineral. This material was chosen because it tends to produce a finer finish than aluminum oxide, even though it breaks down faster. It's commonly used on clear coats, paint, and plastics because it can effectively sand these surfaces without significantly gouging or damaging the workpiece. 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA features tiny, sharp pyramids that wear gradually during sanding, continually exposing fresh mineral to give you a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish.

Attached. Clean and Easy.

The 3M™ Hookit™ hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment clean and easy, and facilitates re-use of the disc for the full extent of its abrasive life. The brushed nylon loop backing attaches firmly to J-shaped hooks on the disc pad (sold separately). The Hookit™ system is designed for workspaces and applications where adhesive-backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA is for use with 3M™ Nib Removal Sander (PN 28737) or 3M ™ Mini Random Orbital Sander (PN 20244).

3M™ Science. Precision Finishing by Design.

3M™ Trizact™ abrasives use 3M Microreplication technology, encapsulating mineral inside tiny pyramids. These pyramids are evenly and electrostatically distributed over the backing. While conventionally coated abrasives often have erratically spaced mineral, Trizact™ abrasives focus on uniformity. As pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed to produce a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish. Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.

In addition to high-performance abrasives, 3M Microreplication technology is also used in the manufacture of a variety of 3M products such as overhead projector lenses, reflective traffic signs, and solar optical films.
