Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals

3M Cloth Belt 577F is a highly recommended abrasive belt for use on heat-sensitive metals such as aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys. It is specifically designed for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To ensure the protection of heat-sensitive alloys like stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys, this belt incorporates a grinding aid that effectively reduces running temperatures. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin, ensuring durability even under high heat and pressure. The use of alumina zirconia in the belt allows for frequent fractures, resulting in the continuous production of sharp points and a faster cut-rate compared to aluminum oxide. Developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding, this synthetic mineral is highly effective in achieving optimal results.

Sized to Suit Your Needs

3M offers a wide range of abrasive belts in various widths and lengths to cater to different metalworking applications. These belts are compatible with a variety of belt sanding tools commonly used in the industry. Wider belts are specifically designed for use with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers. They are ideal for smoothing rough-cut edges of metal sheets or adding a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are commonly used on backstands for weld removal or to impart a desired finish. Narrow belts, on the other hand, are perfect for file tools as they allow access to right angle corners for finishing purposes.
