These 5000-grade foam discs are used as the next step after 3M™ Trizact™ 3000-grade sanding to further reduce the time required for compounding.
Used damp, they refine inconsistent sand scratches with less loading than dry sanding.
3M™ Trizact™ abrasives have unique three-dimensional abrasive structures which are distributed across the abrasive surface. As the structures wear, fresh sharp mineral is exposed delivering consistent finishes, longer disc life and helping reduce material costs.

These abrasives are specifically engineered to remove fine grade sand scratches while maintaining their sharpness for longer periods, resulting in cost savings. In certain cases, Trizact™ abrasives can eliminate the need for additional materials such as wool compounding pads, saving both time and resources. The foam backing of these discs ensures optimal control and consistent contact with the surface, making them ideal for preserving the texture of the paint. When used with 3M Hookit™ disc pads and soft interface pads, Trizact™ Hookit™ abrasive discs offer responsive application and quick change-outs during the paint finishing process.

For the removal of 1200-1500 grade sand scratches, we recommend using Trizact™ 3000 grit foam discs. For removing 3000 grade sand scratches on painted surfaces, Trizact™ 5000 grit foam discs are the ideal choice. These discs can be used in conjunction with 3M Hookit™ Disc Pad 05551 or 20427 and 3M Hookit™ Soft Interface Pad 05777 before applying 3M™ Perfect-It™ machine polishes and pads.
