Scotch-Brite Metal Finishing Wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. The Metal Finishing Wheel is also used effectively to blend and match #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and to create brushed or satin finishes on items such as cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures.

  • High conformability and uniform wear provides consistent cutting power to produce superior satin, mill and brushed finishes
  • Open-web construction resists loading and runs cool to provide professional results on stainless steel, brass, aluminum and other metals
  • Controlled abrasive action helps prevent undercutting or gouging
  • Highly conformable wheel effectively finishes irregular or contoured surfaces
  • Convolute construction wound around a fiber core runs smooth to provide fine, uniform finishing

    The Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel, MF-WL, 5A Medium, 12 in x 3 in x 5 in, 1 ea/Case is a convolute wheel with aluminum oxide abrasive mineral.

  2. How long does the Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel last?

The lifespan of the wheel largely depends on usage. Generally speaking, it can provide consistent performance for up to two times longer than traditional wheels while also reducing operator fatigue due to its conformability effect.

  3. Is this product suitable for stainless steel?

Yes! Absolutely. In fact, one of the benefits of this product is that it works great on stainless steel surfaces without leaving any metal contamination behind.

  4. Can I use this product without water or coolant?

Using coolants and water helps reduce residues that may stain or corrode workpieces as well as keep dust levels down for a cleaner and safer environment. However, you can still use it even without them.

  5. ; What should be considered when choosing between different grades (grade XP vs grade A)?

; Choosing among different grades depends on your specific need/application requirements. For example

Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel is a highly conformable wheel that is convolutely wound on a core to run smoothly and help create professional finishing results. It is used on softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass to blend out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing the desired decorative finish on products such as builder's hardware and plumbing fixtures. Typically used on stationary machinery, the wheels are available in diameters of 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch and greater. This product is available in grade CRS and MED.

The Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive, which is widely used in grinding applications due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention. It is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers. By combining abrasives with the fibers, an abrasive system is created that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.
