The dimension of the product is clearly stated on its label as having a width and height of "3/8 in" by "1 in", respectively. The thickness or depth of this cartridge roll measures "1/8 inch".
-
How many items do I get per order when I buy one case of this cartridge roll?
You will receive a total quantity volume of one hundred (100) pieces included within each case.
-
Is this compatible with a specific handpiece or does it fit most sanders available?
These rolls are designed to work with standard tools that have appropriate collets and holders which measure at least an eighth-inch diameter for proper fitment. They should be compatible with most sanding devices equipped accordingly.
-
What type(s) of materials can be used with this cartridge roll / how versatile is it?
This full tapered cartridge roll works well on various metals including both ferrous (e.g., cast iron, steel) as well non-ferrous ones (such as aluminum). It also performs efficiently on fiberglass plastics and composites provided reasonable care has been taken to select an appropriate grit size based upon the substrate material being worked.
Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Heat-resistant resin is a sturdy binding agent that adheres the abrasive to the backing and maintains the stability of the bond even in conditions of high heat or pressure.
Cartridge rolls fit onto a compatible mandrel (sold separately) that attaches to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill. Together, the mandrel and cartridge roll enable the user to grind or finish hard-to-reach areas of a workpiece. To ensure correct fit, the center hole diameter of the cartridge roll must be equal to the diameter of the mandrel pilot inserted into the cartridge roll.
