PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the purpose of 3M™ Hookit™ Film Disc 371L?
The primary function of this disc is to help remove defects and imperfections from a surface.
-
Can it be used with any type of sander or polisher?
Yes, it can be utilized with random orbital sanders and compatible backup pad for maximum result.
-
How long does one Hookit Film Disc last before needing replacement?
It depends on the type & condition you are using it for. However most users swap discs once they notice reduced effectiveness in stock removal or cutting power.
-
Is this product suitable for wet and dry use, both?
Absolutely! This tough abrasive material works great regardless of whether lubricated liquid is used or not during the operation.
-
. Are there certain surfaces that do not work well with 3M™Hookit™Film Disk 371L ?
. This film disk provides uniform results when applied to many types of surfaces such as metals, fiberglass etc but applying on rubberized materials may cause unsatisfactory results as the dust build up may fade out quickly becoming less effective overtime.
Durable, heavy duty film construction provides the tear resistance needed for the use of coarse grades in high-production metalworking environments, particularly where edge wear is a concern.
3M™ Hookit™ Film Disc 371L is suitable for a variety of applications. For pre-paint finishing, versatility is key, and the 371L film disc in fine grades is designed to deliver a uniform finish on plastics and aluminum commonly used in the transportation industry.
3M™ Hookit™ Film Disc 371L is designed for use with a random orbital sander and the 3M™ Hookit™ backup pad (sold separately). It comes in a range of grades for various applications from rough sanding to very fine finishing.
The Hookit™ AdvantageHook-and-loop style 3M™ Hookit™ discs are ideal for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M™ Stikit™ disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life. Hookit discs provide optimal performance when paired with a 3M™ Hookit™ disc pad.
Film-backed discs have excellent tear-resistant properties and provide a very uniform finish and consistent results with each use. This makes them an excellent option when working on e-coats, primers, gel coats, acrylics and solid surface material, and anywhere else a perfect finish is needed.
Aluminum Oxide AbrasiveAluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
