PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the purpose of the 3M™ File Belt Sander Platen Pad Material?

The 3M™ File Belt Sander Platen Pad Material serves as a cushion between your file belt sander and the metal surface you're sanding, which can provide you with more consistent pressure and improve abrasive cut-rate.

  2. How thick is each pad?

Each 3M™ File Belt Sander Platen Pad Material measures around 1/8 inches in thickness, giving it enough resilience to absorb vibrations and resist wear from sanding over time.

  3. Are they sold individually or only by case?

The product comes in bags of ten platen pads per bag, and one case includes one bag. So, we sell them both ways.

  4. Can these be used on other types of sanders?

Yes! While these are primarily marketed for use with file belt sanders specifically (because those tend to be high-vibration environments), they could technically serve any need where shock-absorbing or cushioning material would make life easier.

  5. :Are there different colors available for this item?

The standard color for this item is brown. Since it never touches what you’re working on – just serving an ergonomic function between mechanics' hands - we haven't found much demand for fancy-colored variations.

Heat Resistant Material

Looking to replace a worn out pad or add a new one? Look no further than 3M™ File Belt Sander Attachment Arm Platen Pad Material. This material will help your tool work at its fullest potential by providing a firm, supporting surface for the abrasive belt.

Designed to run smoothly against the back of the belt without creating excess heat, this pad prevents damage to the tool, warping of the work piece, or even breaking of the belt.

Get the Perfect Fit

3M™ File Belt Sander Attachment Arm Platen Pad Material comes in different densities and thicknesses for various applications. Dense, thin pads provide a more firm sanding surface for an aggressive cut, while softer, thick pads reduce strain on the user and avoid damaging the work piece.

To assure that you get exactly the backing surface you need, this material can also be easily cut in the size and length you are looking for. The pressure sensitive adhesive backing makes it easy to remove or replace, giving you ultimate control over how to use the flexible file belt sander.
