3M Construction Sheathing Tape 8088 is an excellent (printed) sheathing tape designed for use as a closure system and vapor seal on all interior and exterior sheathing materials. It performs exceptionally well in cold temperature applications. CCMC approved 11362R.

3M Construction Sheathing Tape 8088 represents a specialized sealing solution engineered from a 3 mil thick printed polypropylene substrate. The tape is manufactured with an aggressive acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) formulation that delivers reliable performance across a broad spectrum of construction applications. This product functions as both a comprehensive closure system and vapor seal, making it suitable for deployment on all varieties of interior and exterior sheathing materials, including standard sheathing products, weather resistant barriers, and moisture barrier systems.

The construction of this tape combines a conformable polypropylene film backing with a 3M industrial grade pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive layer. The backing material exhibits flexibility across all temperature ranges, including cold weather conditions, while maintaining its ability to adapt to irregular surfaces and complex contours. This conformability ensures that the tape achieves a consistently tight seal regardless of substrate irregularities. The formulation incorporates UV stabilizers that provide protection against photodegradation and weathering caused by prolonged sunlight exposure. Additionally, the tape maintains a low moisture vapor transmission rate, which preserves the integrity and performance characteristics of vapor barrier systems without introducing performance compromises.

The tape can be applied through manual hand unwinding or with the assistance of a 3M hand-held applicator device, offering flexibility in application methodology.

The tape maintains functional performance at temperatures as low as -40°F, and initial adhesion strength will progressively increase as ambient temperatures rise or when exposed to solar radiation. Once the bond has fully developed, the tape provides sustained holding power over extended time periods while maintaining excellent aging characteristics and UV resistance properties. The bonded tape resists lifting, curling, and other forms of adhesive failure.
