PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What makes the 3M™ Cold Shrink Insulator 8427-6 different from other insulators?

The 3M™ Cold Shrink Insulator 8427-6 has a unique cold shrink design that allows for easy installation without the use of special tools or heat. It also provides reliable protection against moisture, weathering, and corrosion.

  2. How many insulation tubes come in one case of the 3M™ Cold Shrink Insulator 8427-6?

Each case of the 3M™ Cold Shrink Insulator includes ten insulation tubes.

  3. Can I use this insulator on outdoor applications?

Yes, definitely! The 3M™ Cold Shrink Insulator provides reliable performance outdoors against harsh elements such as UV radiation, moisture, salt spray and extreme temperatures.

  4. Is it hard to install this insulator by myself?

Not at all! In fact, one advantage of using our product is its simple usage. Unlike conventional slip-on sleeves or heat-shrinks requiring expensive equipment & trained labor force - our flexible tubing easily stretches over cable ends and connector interfaces providing an efficient way to protect your connections with a no-fuss application process.

You can count on the 3M™ 8420 Cold Shrink Connector Insulator to seal out moisture on all solid dielectric insulated wires, cables splices, conduit sealing and breakouts.

The cold shrink bond maintains pressure and stays flexible, making it a great choice for insulating secondary splices, direct buried or submersible, dig-in repairs, as well as safeguarding high-voltage, air-insulated connectors and lugs.

Installation is easy and requires no tools. The insulator is made of EPDM rubber that contains no sulfur or chlorides. It is ANSI Certified and RoHS 2011/65/EU Compliant.
