3M Scotch Seal Tape 2229 is a 125 mil thick, highly conformable, tacky mastic pad on an easy release liner that's suitable for insulating, padding and sealing of objects that need to be protected from adverse
environmental conditions. It withstands temperatures up to 194 F (90 C).

    This tape compound is primarily used for sealing and insulating irregular surfaces, like connections that require a water-resistant seal.

    No special equipment is required. You can apply it with just your hands and some basic tools.

  3. Is 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Mastic Tape Compound 2229 easy to remove if we need to make changes later on?

    Yes, the tape has excellent cohesive strength but does not bond well to other materials so you can peel it off easily when you are making changes.

  4. Are these pads pre-cut or do they have to be cut manually before use?

    The pads come precut which makes them very convenient for quick repairs and applications in tight spaces.

  5. Does this product come with a warranty or guarantee of any kind?

3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Mastic Tape Compound 2229

3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Mastic Tape Compound 2229 is a UV-resistant mastic-coated adhesive on an easy-release liner. It offers protection from extreme environmental conditions by padding, insulating and sealing them.

This tape is moldable and able to conform to irregular surfaces. When covered with vinyl or rubber electrical tape, the tape can be used to insulate electrical connections rated up to 1000 volts.

At a continuous operating temperature of 90 ºC, this 2-1/2-inch black adhesive can also seal high-voltage cable splice and termination accessories.

Cut the adhesive and apply in layers or mold to the desired shape. 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Mastic Tape Compound 2229 makes wire insulation easy.

Note:
  • Test Scotch Mastic 2229 tape with the semi-conductive jacketing material being used to ensure compatibility.
