PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D made of?

The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D is made from aluminum oxide abrasive grain that has been coated on a flexible J-weight cloth backing.

  2. What are the dimensions of this belt?

The dimensions for this belt are 2 inches wide by 60 inches long.

  3. How does the Film-lok attachment method work?

The Film-lok attachment method involves a series of tiny hooks and loops on both sides of the sanding disc and abrasive surface, which mate together to hold the sanding disc to the sander pad or hand tool during use. This allows for easy and secure attachment and removal without damaging the disc or losing its integrity.

  4. Can you tell me more about what "Single-flex" means?

Single-flex refers to how easily a belt can conform to an object's shape while still maintaining good contact between it. In other words, it describes how flexible or rigid an abrasive product feels when in use. Single-flex allows users greater control over their work because they can maintain pressure even on contoured surfaces

  5. How many belts come in each case?

Each case comes with fifty (50) individual belts packed inside for your convenience!

3M™ Cloth Belt 341D is a high-performance abrasive belt designed for aggressive dry sanding applications. The belt features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing. This combination provides continuous cut and long-life performance, making it ideal for finishing on metal. The closed coat construction offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. It is important to note that this belt should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide mineral is a popular choice among industrial professionals due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life. It is commonly used in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that can withstand high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different applications on both wood and metal. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth rough cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts fit onto edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, while narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belts come with various splices that join the belt ends. A film media splice achieves a secure bond with a joining film that minimizes chatter marks, ensures a smooth running belt, and produces consistent finishing results. A sine wave splice is constructed of interlocking fingers that enable the splice to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide added strength to the joint area. Sine wave splices are typically used for coarser grades and wide belts. In summary, 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D is a durable and long-lasting abrasive belt that is ideal for aggressive dry sanding applications. Its fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains and closed coat construction provide a consistent, fine finish and are suitable for producing a grain pattern. With a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander, 3M offers a solution for all your sanding needs.
