PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Wheel made of?

The Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Wheel is made from a uniformly dense non-woven material that has aluminum oxide mineral particles evenly distributed throughout.

  2. Can I use this wheel on my stainless steel surfaces without scratching them?

Absolutely! The Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Wheel, 5A FIN grade is safe to use on all metals, including stainless steel. It creates a uniform finish without causing any scratches or marks.

  3. How long does the wheel last?

The life of the wheel depends on several factors such as material hardness, machine RPMs and pressure used during operation. However, our test results show it lasts considerably longer than other competing brands in similar applications.

  4. Do I need a special tool or equipment to operate the wheel?

Yes, you will need proper metalworking machinery which can hold an 18-inch cut & polish abrasive disc (wheel). If you're unsure whether your machinery can be used with this product then please consult our technical support team for assistance before purchasing.

  5. . Is it difficult to install the cut and polish wheels onto my machine?

    A. No not at all! Most machines designed for heavy-duty work have similar mounting systems that make replacing old wheels with new ones effortless- by just following instructions included within product packaging along with appropriate safety precautions required while mounting these type of abrasive discs.

Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Wheels use aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibers. Combining abrasives into the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material is load resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.

Cut and Polish Wheels help to remove surface defects and coarse grindlines, blend forging marks and machining mismatches while leaving a uniform grain finish. These wheels are available in a range of diameters and widths and can be used with robotics, inline sanders, bench motors, backstands and centerless grinders.
