3M Cartridge Roll 341D provides easy access to small, hard-to-reach spaces for sanding and finishing. As the outermost abrasive layer wears down, the cloth backing frays to expose fresh abrasive layers for continued cutting action.

  • Small size is ideal for sanding and finishing hard-to-reach spaces
  • Cloth backing supports heavy sanding yet frays to expose fresh abrasive
  • Resin bond withstands high heat and pressure
  • Aluminum oxide abrasive in a closed-coat layer provides fast cut and long life
  • Rolls attach to a compatible cartridge roll mandrel (sold separately)

PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is a cartridge roll and how does it work?

A cartridge roll is an abrasive that is commonly used in metalworking and woodworking projects. It works by rotating on high-speed power tools, such as die grinders or drills.

  2. What materials are the 3M™ Cartridge Roll 341D compatible with?

The 3M™ Cartridge Roll 341D can be used on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, bronze and aluminum. It’s also versatile enough to use successfully on wood surfaces.

  3. How do I choose the correct size of cartridge roll for my project?

The 3M™ Cartridge Roll comes in various sizes to fit your specific needs. Choose a larger diameter if you need faster cutting action but less precision; conversely, if you have tight corners or intricate shapes in your design then opt for smaller diameters which provide finer abrasion control.

  4. Are there any safety precautions I should take when using this product?

Always ensure proper cleaning before installing - make sure to remove any previous residues from old cartridges with denatured alcohol before applying new ones. Keep your fingers clear while attaching the product to the mandrel/die grinder and always wear gloves to avoid injury during usage. Additionally, use protective eyewear while grinding so that debris doesn't hit your eyes causing injury.\

3M™ Cartridge Roll 341D has a closed coat of aluminum oxide abrasive secured with a heat-resistant resin bond. Cartridge rolls fit onto a cartridge roll mandrel (sold separately) and are ideal for accessing small, hard to reach spaces. 3M™ Cartridge Roll 341D is used in metalworking applications. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Heat-resistant resin is a sturdy binding agent that adheres the abrasive to the backing and maintains the stability of the bond even in conditions of high heat or pressure. Cartridge rolls fit onto a compatible mandrel (sold separately) that attaches to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill. Together, the mandrel and cartridge roll enable the user to grind or finish hard-to-reach areas of a workpiece. To ensure correct fit, the center hole diameter of the cartridge roll must be equal to the diameter of the mandrel pilot inserted into the cartridge roll.
