The Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc, SC-DH, A/O Coarse can be used on a variety of metals and surfaces such as stainless steel or aluminum.

  2. Are these discs durable enough to handle tough jobs?

Absolutely! These discs are made with durable aluminum oxide abrasive mineral and a reinforced fiber backing that makes them tough enough for your heavy-duty applications.

  3. How does the A/O Coarse grade compare to other grades of surface conditioning discs?

The A/O Coarse grade is great for stripping paint or coatings, removing rust and weld burn. It's considered more aggressive than medium and fine grades offered by 3M.

  4. Is this product only available in one size option?

This particular product comes in a 7-inch diameter with 7/8 inch center hole size. However, we do offer several sizes for our Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc line-up if you're looking for something else!

  5. Can I use this product if I don't have much experience using sanding or grinding equipment?

Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc

The Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use. It is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. Traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use, whereas aluminum oxide maintains its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention. This makes it suitable for a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

Scotch-Brite™ Industrial Abrasives

Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers. This creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.
