3M Screen Printable Polyester Performance Durable Label Material with Structured Adhesive 7220SA is a durable, high performance material that offers excellent thermal stability and moisture resistance. This topcoated polyester label stock utilizes 3M Adhesive 350, which is designed to permanently bond to high and low surface energy plastics, textured and contoured surfaces, powder coatings, and slightly oily metals. With unique microchannels throughout the structured adhesive, air flows freely from between the adhesive and substrate. Hand applied labels go on smoothly and stay that way. Even when labels are used on injection-molded plastic parts, bubbles that form from plastic outgassing can be smoothed to regain a neat appearance for the graphic.
- Facestocks (polyester and vinyl) and adhesives offer heat tolerance, clarity, and UV resistance
- Adhesive offers excellent chemical resistance and holding strength, even at high temperatures.
- Liner provides easy sheet processing and is designed for the ultimate in layflat.
- The backside of this liner is not printable.
- Structured adhesive designed to allow air to flow from between adhesive and substrates so that hand applied labels go on smoothly and stay that way.
- UL Recognized file MH16411, CSA Group Certified file 99316

PRODUCT FAQ
-
What material is the 3M™ Sheet and Screen Label Material 7220SA made from?
The 7220SA is made from white polyester, which provides excellent durability and resistance to moisture, chemicals, and UV exposure, making it ideal for demanding labeling applications.
-
What are the dimensions of each sheet in this product?
Each sheet measures 20 inches by 27 inches, giving you a generous size for various labeling and screening projects.
-
How many sheets come in one case?
Each case contains 100 sheets, so you get 5,400 square inches of material per case—plenty for most labeling needs.
-
What is this material typically used for?
The 7220SA is commonly used for sheet and screen label applications, industrial identification, equipment labeling, and any project requiring a durable, polyester-based label material that resists harsh environments.
-
Does this material work well with different printing or application methods?
Yes, the 7220SA polyester material is versatile and compatible with various printing methods including screen printing and other industrial labeling processes, making it a flexible choice for many applications.
When labels encounter severe conditions such as harsh chemical exposure, elevated temperatures, or physically demanding environments, 3M offers a comprehensive selection of sheet and screen label materials specifically engineered to withstand these challenges. The overlaminate layer provides exceptional dimensional stability and crystal-clear clarity while simultaneously enhancing the label's resistance to moisture infiltration, tearing, cracking, and surface abrasion.
Typical Applications- Extended life outdoor label applications exposed to environmental elements
- Nameplates and product identification labels for various industries
- Rating plates for equipment and machinery
- Property identification and asset labeling for inventory management
- Caution, warning, instruction, and service labels for durable goods and equipment, including lawn and garden equipment
3M sheet and screen label materials are available in two primary facestock options to address different application requirements. Polyester facestocks deliver superior heat tolerance, exceptional optical clarity, and high tensile strength, making them ideal for high-temperature applications. Vinyl facestocks, conversely, provide excellent ultraviolet resistance and outstanding conformability to curved or irregular surfaces. All products are supplied with a 90# liner to ensure lay-flat performance and ease of handling during application.
Advanced Adhesive Technologies3M sheet and screen label materials incorporate a range of specially formulated adhesive systems designed to achieve the optimal balance between strong adhesion and controlled removability for specific application needs.
- 3M Adhesive 350: A modified acrylic adhesive formulation that delivers high shear strength, particularly effective on low surface energy materials, powder coatings, and slightly oily metal substrates.
- 3M High Performance Permanent Tackified Acrylic Adhesive P1400: Specifically engineered for demanding outdoor and harsh environments, this adhesive offers strong ultraviolet resistance and reliable adhesion across a diverse range of substrates, including polyolefin materials.
- 3M High Stability Acrylic Adhesive 500: Applied to vinyl label stocks, this adhesive enables clean removal from most surfaces for up to one year following application, making it particularly suitable for outdoor die-cut masking applications.
- 3M R3500 Removable Adhesive: A multi-repositionable adhesive system designed for smooth surfaces including glass, metal, and plastic materials, offering both strong initial tack and long-term adhesion with residue-free removal.
- 3M Adhesive 400: A medium-firm pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive system that maintains consistent bonding strength across a wide temperature range, functioning reliably up to 250°F (121°C).
- 3M Adhesive 200MP: Formulated to provide outstanding adhesion to metal substrates and high surface energy plastics, with initial repositionability for precise placement and excellent performance following exposure to humidity and temperature cycling.
