3M Double Coated Tape 9828 features a thin film carrier and a medium-firm acrylic adhesive that works well on many plastics and foams. 3M Adhesive 340 provides good initial adhesion and holding power to a wide variety of materials including HSE plastics. The 0.5 mil polyester carrieradds dimensional stability and improved handling during slitting and die cutting operations.

Bonds a Range of Materials, Including HSE Plastics and Foams

3M™ Double Coated Tape 9828 is a thin and consistent alternative to glue that can be used for foam, fabric, and gasket attachment. This tape offers long-term temperature performance up to 120°F (49°C). A clear .5 mil polyester film carrier between adhesive layers adds dimensional stability to foams and other substrates and provides easier handling during slitting and die-cutting. 3M™ Adhesive 340 is applied to the liner side of the film at 1.5 mils and at 2.0 mils on the face side for effective wet-out. The white 55# densified kraft paper liner is compatible with rotary die-cutting.

In general, double coated tape is composed of a paper, film, or tissue carrier that is coated on both sides with pressure-sensitive adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a peel-away liner that is removed at the time of application. These tapes can be applied by hand or with a dispenser. Double coated tape dispensers are available in a variety of configurations ranging from manual to fully automatic. Applications for double coated tape are found in electronics, automotive, aerospace, general industrial, and fabrication markets.
