PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What materials does the 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ One Part Epoxy Adhesive 6101 bond well to?

This adhesive bonds really well to metals, ceramics, and some plastics—it’s great for many industrial applications!

  2. Is any mixing or special preparation needed before using this epoxy adhesive?

No mixing is required! The 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ 6101 comes as a one-part adhesive—just dispense and cure.

  3. How long does it take for the adhesive to fully cure?

At room temperature, full curing can take up to 7 days. For faster results, curing at higher temperatures (like in an oven) will speed things up!

  4. Does the cartridge fit standard dispensing equipment?

Yes! The 20 fl oz cartridge is designed for use with compatible pneumatic or manual applicators—easy and convenient.

  5. What color does the cured adhesive dry to?

Once fully cured, this epoxy dries off-white—making it discreet while ensuring strong bonded joints.

Room-Temperature Stability with Flexible Curing Options

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ One-Part Epoxy Adhesive 6101 is engineered to provide significant production advantages, including exceptional room-temperature stability and versatile curing options. This adhesive can be stored at 77°F (25°C) for up to four weeks without compromising its performance, allowing for convenient access and reduced waste on the production floor. For even longer storage, it maintains its shelf life for up to 18 months at -4°F (-20°C), making it ideal for facilities that require bulk storage and minimal product loss. The one-part, heat-cured formulation eliminates the need for mixing, which helps prevent tip clogging and material waste during extended production shutdowns.

The curing process of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ One-Part Epoxy Adhesive 6101 is highly adaptable to meet various production requirements. For applications involving heat-sensitive substrates—such as certain plastics, or assemblies near batteries and magnets—the adhesive achieves handling strength in just 10 minutes and fully cures in 20 minutes at a low temperature of 149°F (65°C). For applications where faster throughput is needed and heat sensitivity is less of a concern, the adhesive can cure in as little as 3 minutes at 194°F (90°C). This flexibility allows manufacturers to optimize their processes for both speed and material compatibility.

Durable, Water-Resistant Bonds for Electronics and More

Beyond its production benefits, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ One-Part Epoxy Adhesive 6101 delivers robust, water-resistant bonds that offer mechanical support and environmental protection for sensitive electronic components and circuits. After curing, the adhesive remains flexible, boasting 100% elongation, which helps absorb mechanical stresses and vibrations. It forms strong bonds on a wide range of substrates, including glass-filled nylon, polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and various metals. With an energy absorption capacity of up to 3.1 joules, this adhesive provides excellent impact resistance, helping assemblies withstand bumps, drops, and other mechanical shocks.
