Designed for Tough Jobs

The 3M™ Cross Pad 747D is a versatile tool that can be used for both grinding and polishing applications. Its X-weight cloth backing provides support for tough jobs, while its closed coat of aluminum oxide abrasive is secured with a heat-resistant resin bond. This cross pad is ideal for polishing or deburring tasks and can be attached to a threaded mandrel (sold separately) that can be used with a die grinder or power drill. The mandrel and cross pad combination allows users to grind or finish the inner contours of various-sized channels. The maximum RPM of the pad depends on its size.

Blended Materials that Stay Sharp

The 3M™ Cross Pad 747D is covered with a blend of ceramic and aluminum oxide mineral, which enhances the toughness and hardness of the grain. Ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super-fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications, making them perfect for stock removal. The ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making the 3M™ Cross Pad 747D an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.

High Quality Construction

The abrasive grains of the 3M™ Cross Pad 747D are attached to the pad using an anti-friction resin bonding material, which helps the abrasive run smoothly over the workpiece. A grinding aid coating is also added to help the abrasive stay cool during grinding, minimizing heat and improving abrasive performance. This attribute, combined with the semi-flexible X-weight backing, make this pad a good match for projects that require a strong sanding tool that can be used with minimal space or leverage.
