PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is 3M™ Adhesion Promoter 2262AT used for?

3M™ Adhesion Promoter 2262AT is a liquid primer that helps improve adhesion of automotive paints to surfaces such as plastics, composites and painted surfaces.

  2. How does it work?

The adhesion promoter works by increasing the bonding surface energy of the substrate, allowing better adhesion of the paint or coating being applied to it.

  3. Is this product suitable for all substrates?

This product is generally recommended for automotive plastic and composite parts, but it can also be used on most painted metal substrates. It’s best to consult with your local 3M representative if you have any doubts about its suitability for specific applications.

  4. Can this product be used in high-temperature environments?

Yes. This particular formula has been designed specifically to perform well even under extreme temperature conditions. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°F (-40°C) up to +250°F (121°C).

  5. Are there any environmental concerns with using this product?

As with all chemicals, care should be taken during handling and disposal. However, the manufacturer has ensured that this adhesive meets industry standards related to toxicity levels and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Always ensure adequate ventilation when applying this or any other solvent-based adhesive products.

A Versatile and Easy to Use Adhesion Promoter

3M™ Adhesion Promoter 2262AT is a specially formulated acrylic polymer solution that promotes a tight, reliable bond when attaching components to painted surfaces in automotive applications. It is designed for use with 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tapes and is excellent for applications using rigid and flexible PVC compounds, ABS, nylon, polyester, and high-solids automotive paints. The adhesion promoter can be applied by a gravity feed wipe, knurled roller, sprayer, or felt-tipped or similar applicator. The liquid primer dries in 5 to 10 seconds for very fast and efficient application. Once the product is dry, it is ready to accept attachment tape. The adhesion promoter can also be cleaned from most surfaces using an acetone solvent or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). Please note: When using solvents for cleanup, use the precautionary measures recommended in the SDS and on the product label for the solvent. Also, consult local air quality regulations that may regulate solvent and product use.

3M™ Adhesion Promoter 2262AT is specifically formulated to be used with 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tapes and 3M™ Acrylic Plus Tapes for automotive applications. Each application should be verified through testing.
