How It Works
The 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fasteners work by flexing the stems and sliding the mushroom heads past each other when two pieces are pressed together. Once the opposing mating piece is passed, the stems snap back into their original position, and the opposing mushroom heads interlock. These fasteners provide high tensile strength but can be easily opened by cleaving or peeling open the closure. Alignment and re-alignment are simple and require no special tools. Stem Densities
The 3M Dual Lock fasteners offer adjustable and proportional engagement and disengagement force by combining different stem densities and engaged areas. There are three different stem densities available: 170, 250, and 400 stems per square inch. The Dual Lock fastener SJ3758 has 250 stems per square inch (25mm), providing the tightest hold. It can be mated to Type 170, 250, or 400.
