3M Air and Vapor Barrier 3015NP is an air, moisture and water impermeable film membrane with an aggressive, high-tack pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive. It reduces air leakage and uncontrolled airflow from the building envelope, prevents moisture ingress and helps improve indoor air quality. It does not require the use of a primer on most construction surfaces.

Introducing the 3M Air and Vapor Barrier 3015NP, a film membrane that provides an impermeable barrier to air, moisture, water, and vapor. This innovative product features an aggressive high-tack acrylic adhesive on a multi-layer elastomeric film, ensuring a self-sealing effect around screws, nails, and staples to minimize moisture intrusion. It has been tested and passes ASTM D1970 standards both before and after thermal cycling.
The adhesive used in this barrier is compatible with a wide range of common sealants, including synthetic rubber, butyl, polyurethane, silicone, and silane-terminated hybrid sealants. It adheres well to various construction substrates such as concrete, concrete block, anodized aluminum, galvanized metal, plywood, extruded polystyrene, and most exterior gypsum sheathing. This allows for a primer-free application, making installation up to 40% faster compared to traditional air barriers that require a primer.
The film is slightly translucent, providing a clean appearance while still allowing enough visibility to identify screws in the underlying sheathing, reducing the risk of missing studs for the next contractor. With a wide temperature range, this product can be applied in surface temperatures ranging from 0F (-18C) up to 150F (66C). It has a service temperature range from -40F (-40C) up to 240F (116C) and can withstand up to 12 months of direct UV exposure. Additionally, this barrier has been evaluated and approved by the Air Barrier Association of America.
