Few shops can do without abrasives in handy sheet form, and the 3M Paper Sheet 405U is designed to be an indispensable tool. With its flexible A-weight paper backing, it offers excellent conformability, while the silicon carbide abrasive mineral delivers exceptional finishes.

Silicon carbide abrasive sheets are known for creating a smoother finish compared to aluminum oxide products on most substrates. Although it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. The resin bond construction ensures superior grain retention, while the open coat construction and load-resistant coating provide excellent anti-loading characteristics.

These versatile sanding sheets contain the ideal abrasive grain type and grades for multi-step finishing processes.

Paper Backing for Conformability to Contours

The light A-weight backing of the 3M Paper Sheet 405U allows for conformability over contours and into crevices and corners. The sheet can also be easily cut to fit a hand pad block, inline sander, or finishing or power sanders. Other applications include general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, prep prior to staining/painting, and scuff sanding between coatings.

Recommended Applications

Silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral known for its sharpness, is commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding. The 3M Paper Sheet 405U is ideal for general purpose sanding on wood, metal, plastic, drywall, fiberglass, glass, and ceramic materials. It is also suitable for contour blending.
