3M™ Hand Laps are intended to create a smooth, glossy end result on multiple surfaces such as metal, plastic, and wood. The abrasive substance used in the laps is constructed from aluminum oxide, which is more resilient than steel and can be used for up to 10 times more than traditional sandpaper. Applying a lubricant like water or mineral oil assists in providing an even finish.
