  1. What is the 3M™ Utility Cloth Roll 314D used for?

The 3M™ Utility Cloth Roll 314D is a general-purpose abrasive cloth roll that can be used for cleaning, polishing or sanding wood, metal, plastic and other materials.

  2. What type of grit does the cloth roll have?

The P120 J-weight grit on this cloth roll helps it to achieve a fine finish on your workpiece without causing excessive material loss.

  3. How long and wide is each individual strip of this product?

Each strip in a pack measures at about 1-1/2 inches x 20 yards long. As there are five strips included in one case, you get plenty of utility rolled up within this package!

  4. . Can I use water with this product during my sanding job?

. Yes absolutely! This closthheet will also perform well when wetting it first prior to using if needed.

  5. . Is it easy to store the remaining strips after opening the package?

. Yes, great question—we actually designed them so that pulling one strip off won't damage or tangle any others still stored intact within their protective packaging!

Product Description:

The sanding strip is a versatile product that can be torn from the roll to fit specific applications. Most grades have a light, J-weight cloth backing that allows for flexibility when sanding circular edges, angles, or other contours. Rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a slightly stiffer X-weight backing that is suitable for more coarse sanding applications. The cloth backing remains durable even when bent or rolled, without tearing or shelling. Additionally, strips can be torn by hand when a smaller piece is needed, without compromising the sanding surface.

Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals due to its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral creates a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, while traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. It can be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic.
