3M Sheet and Screen Label Materials for Demanding Environments

When labels encounter harsh chemicals, elevated temperatures, or other challenging conditions, 3M offers a comprehensive selection of Sheet and Screen Label Materials specifically engineered to withstand these rigorous demands. The protective overlaminate layer provides exceptional dimensional stability and crystal-clear clarity while simultaneously enhancing resistance to moisture penetration, tearing, cracking, and surface abrasion—all critical factors for maintaining label integrity over extended periods.

Primary Applications
  • Extended life outdoor label applications
  • Nameplates and product identification labels
  • Rating plates and performance specifications
  • Property identification and asset labeling systems
  • Caution, warning, instruction, and service labels for durable goods and equipment/machinery including lawn and garden equipment
Material Composition and Performance Features

These specialized label materials are constructed with a 90# liner to ensure optimal lay-flat performance during application and storage. The product line offers two distinct facestock options to accommodate different application requirements. Polyester facestocks deliver superior heat tolerance, exceptional optical clarity, and high tensile strength characteristics, making them ideal for high-temperature environments. Vinyl facestocks provide excellent ultraviolet resistance and superior conformability to curved and irregular surfaces.

Advanced Adhesive Technologies

3M Sheet and Screen Label Materials incorporate a range of precisely formulated adhesive systems designed to achieve the optimal balance between strong adhesion and controlled removability. Each adhesive formulation addresses specific application challenges and environmental conditions.

  • 3M Adhesive 350: A modified acrylic formulation specifically developed for applications demanding exceptional shear strength, particularly when bonding to challenging substrates such as low surface energy materials, powder-coated surfaces, or slightly oily metal substrates.
  • 3M High Performance Permanent Tackified Acrylic Adhesive P1400: Engineered for use in severe environmental conditions, this adhesive demonstrates robust UV resistance and reliable adhesion across an extensive range of substrates, including polyolefins, making it particularly suitable for outdoor durability requirements.
  • 3M High Stability Acrylic Adhesive 500: Formulated specifically for vinyl label stocks, this adhesive achieves clean removal from most surfaces up to one year following application, making it particularly well-suited for outdoor die-cut masking applications.
  • 3M R3500 Removable Adhesive: This multi-repositionable adhesive system works effectively on smooth surfaces including glass, metal, and plastic materials, providing reliable initial tack and sustained long-term adhesion while removing without leaving residual traces.
  • 3M Adhesive 400: A medium-firm pressure-sensitive acrylic system that delivers consistent bonding performance across a broad temperature spectrum, maintaining performance up to 250°F (121°C).
  • 3M Adhesive 200MP: This formulation provides outstanding adhesion to metal substrates and high surface energy plastics, incorporating initial repositionability for precise placement accuracy during application and demonstrating excellent performance following exposure to humidity and thermal cycling.
