Yes! This belt is efficient at grinding or finishing many different types of metals including stainless steel, nickel alloy and cobalt chrome, as well as hard-to-grind materials like carbon fiber composites.
How long can I expect this sanding belt to last me before it needs replacing?

The lifespan will depend on how frequently it's being used and what type of material it's working on but overall due to the durability provided by its high-performance ceramic grain we expect each belt lasts up to four times longer than conventional abrasives ingiving you more wear time.

This belt produces a uniform finish over the life of the product and helps eliminate burning during end-grain sanding. The heavyweight cloth backing provides durability, and the ceramic 3M Precision-Shaped Grain mineral is resin-bonded to the backing for reliable performance, even under high heat and pressure.

To reduce premature belt loading, 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 970DZ is engineered with an open-coat construction and an anti-static coating on the abrasive. The anti-static coating optimizes dust collection when used with an efficient dust collection system.
